Chapter 0
The Monster Inside My Heart
What would you do if there was someone living inside your own body, without you knowing?
Of course, you wouldn't remember being this person. What on Earth is that stranger in your body doing? If something like that really happened to you, how would you feel?
The main character of this story has has many different personalities living inside his heart. 3, to be exact. How did this happen? Is it really ok for 3 people to live in one body?
Rumor has it that Mars, where the story takes place, has a hidden power that can stir up wild delusions. But you are special. It will affect you differently. Hohohohohohohoho.
A certain Christmas morning from the past lingers in the main character's mind. Wrapping paper and gift boxes are left open under the tree. And, on top of one special box, one large toy rocket sits. When was the last time you saw this toy? The child who once beloved this toy is now off to Mars, aboard a much realer rocket.

"AUTOMATIC LANDING DEVICE, CONFIRMATION!"
"Equipment, on! Target: Mars, near The Face."
"The face... That damned face... Screw the Martians."
"Noon, settle down. There are fewer Martians now."
"Got it. Fewer Martians. That's odd."
"The face of Man brought disaster apon them."
"The Martians didn't even see our human faces."
"Rumor has it that they also retrieved bacteria from Earth."
"Doesn't sound like my buisness."
"Our rocket, Phoenix 1, is said to be the most advanced on planet Earth. Ignoring all our past failures, it finally entered the Mars orbit. Few of our crew remain calm. Would you look at that crazy glow! That's Mars! The planet of disaster, a symbol of redness... A false star."

Your trio of crew members are named Tatler, Noon, and April. Tatler has quite the anxiety about this mission. Commander October, another crew member, did not join. Instead, he radios in from Earth.
"Laika, can you hear me? It's October, the commander of this mission. I will be serving as your contact to Earth, and I look forward to this mission's completion. Something strange is happening on Mars, which is where you are heading. I can see an unknown face-shaped monster. There are strange rumors flying around, such as that the world is about to end. Your job is to find out the truth behind the rumors."
The wireless monitor displays a different face.
"This is Colonel Galil. Do you know him? He led a past mission to Mars."

A young astronaut named Laika is sent to Mars with an important mission. Was he sent to the stars? He parallels Laika, the Soviet space dog, sent into space many years ago. This is not the first mission to Mars. It is one of many.
Captian Tatler speaks to you and your crewmates.
"The first spacecraft was sent to Mars 10 years ago. Colonel Galil came to investigate the state of the planet. He has not been seen since, only leaving the following message: "God is dead. I am light..." I was the one who delivered Galil's message to Earth. Strange rumors began to spread about Mars. We investigated the rumor and found out that Martians were not the only inhabitants of the planet."
"Our mission is to learn if these inhabitants are peaceful and friendly. Then, talk of terraforming can begin."
As Laika and his crew prepare to land, a broadcast on the monitor starts playing. It displays something unfarmiliar.
"Hyo, I can feel you. Very strongly, hyo."
No one had time to process this message, as the Phoenix 1 is beginning to land.
"What caused that bastard Galil to disappear?"
"Colonel Galil was seduced by the mysterious power of Mars. You have to be very mentally strong to resist it's grasp. I'll probably get swept away and lose track of myself."
"This idea of terraforming Mars is nothing but a delusion. You can't possibly fix Mars. It's just not a good plan. Heh, it's Christmas, and it's nothing but a Christmas wish."
"You think so? Anyway, we've arrived."
Commander October says that the Martian soil is bad for the mind. It can cause crazy delusions. So because of my unique mental state, I was called.

"We're going to take some samples home and examine them. It's apparently a geological problem."
"Geological problems? That ounds about right. The soil feels... icy. It feels like the entire planet holds malice within it. Galil must have felt that malice. No doubt about that. 'God is dead, I am the light'?"

Minus Laika, the whole crew seems to have fallen into fear. You, however, are fine. You simply say whatever crosses your mind. The rocket steadily approaches Mars.
A giant face comes into view on the surface of Mars. It's said to have been left by the Martians. The face is a human-shaped ruin of the past.
Suddenly, purple mist begins to fill the rocket's interior. And thus, the crew begins to act very strange.
"Mummy... Mummy, it was my fault... Ah, not that! Mummy! That's a lie!"
"Ahh? You... you're still alive...? That can't be true!"
"This is my... what's wrong? I should be crying."
The crew is hallucinating due to some evil power. But was it really just hallucinations? Isn't there something each of us carries with us from the past that we want to forget?
And there was one person who didn't hallucinate. That was Laika.
Mars continues to shine with a murky reddish-brown surface as if innocent.
And at this time, a phrase enters your mind. It resonates with you.
"The monster is in your mind."

Chapter 1
Evil Mind
A very long time ago, humans made a deal with the Martians. It was a contract. By giving the faceless Martians a human face, the Martians agreed to peace. They firmly promised to do so. However, after aquiring human faces, the Martians soon became extinct. Eventually Mars becomes overrun by exiles and stowaways and even the stars themselves. The stars, as if they had a will of their own, began to emit energy. This energy causes evil to cultivate in the heart, thus being dubbed the 'Evil Mind'.
As soon as the crew set foot on Martian soil, they were blasted with a large sandstorm. This will be a trivial trial for the inexperienced Laika.
"Don't get seperated, and beware the Evil Mind. It's Mars' own evil. That purple mist better stay far away from me."
"It will make you delusional. You'll think all sorts of things."

Captian Tatler continues ahead, and attempts to instruct the crew further. However, the intensifying sandstorm makes listening quite hard.
"Noon, is there anywhere we can take shelter?"
"There must be a shelter nearby, right, Noon?"
"Laika, what are you doing? You're going to get separated!"

Laika, who's pace was slow due to the storm, was attacked by the Evil Mind.
The three other inhabitents of your mind begin to come forward. The three figures emerged from within the Mind of Power. They start talking freely.
"I heard that just now. It was Vladimir and Sergei."
"Huh? I saw something. A shining treasure. My treasure."
"There was something at the landing site. I don't know if it was treasure or not, but there was something in the rocks. It was buried. Ernest, you could grab it."
They had names, of course; Ernest, Yolanda, and Spacer. They know about Mars and it's powers. They also knew another secret.

Something approaches, so they retreat inside Laika.
"Hyo-hiyo, you're not alone. You're complicated. Evil is rampant. It will affect you and change you. Your personality will change, hyohyohyohyo."
This man who approaches you is named Spirit Man. What does he want?
For some reason, he is interested in Laika and is willing to lend you his help.
As soon as Spirit Man disappears, Laika regains his consciousness.
A unfamiliar boy proceeds to emerge from the dust and soil.
"This planet is dangerious. It has a frightful power. I can tell you're strong minded, so you'll fight it. Those others, however, are weak."
The boy disappears, and in his place, stands Noon. He's found something odd, located in a shelter. Tatler, who's there currently, agrees. Tatler calls out for the woman whom he once loved like a sister.
"Chloe... Chloe..."
Everyone knew that this was meaningless, as Chloe was dead.
Suddently, a door appears on the path to the shelter in which Laika and Noon were walking. A woman's voice calls April into this unfamiliar room. This distracts Laika, who gets seperated yet again from Noon.
The strange boy from before reappears infront of you. His name is Damian.
"Want to know where those two went? I know, because I called them there. The two of them were called to this planet. I was the one who led the girl to the Hill of Induction. You seem stringer than them. I can't lead you. That's a mystery."
Just as Damian said, you see April walking up the steep Hill of Induction.
"This mission is looking rough. None of us are thinking straight. You know, I only joined because you were in this mission, Laika."
As April spoke, her expression showed a hint of sadness.
